Lakes of Mount Dora is a gated, 55+ active-adult community surrounded by scenic lakes throughout the neighborhood. It sits less than ten minutes from downtown Mount Dora, so residents can step straight into the Central Florida lifestyle they're looking for — waterfront living with a charming historic town right next door.

At completion the community will have over 1,031 homes, and more than 80% of them sit on water. As the community's newest builder, D.R. Horton is constructing the last lakefront homes here — currently selling homes with lake views, with residents enjoying lakefront access around the Peninsula in Phase 4C. On the community lakes you're welcome to use canoes, paddle boats, or a small pontoon boat with an electric motor.

The 18,000 sq ft clubhouse

Straight ahead across the circle as you enter the gates, the clubhouse anchors community life with 18,000 square feet of amenities. A large open foyer greets you, with the on-site HOA management office right there. Down the hallway, everything opens up:

A 6,000 sq ft social hall that seats over 250 guests — residents can rent it for festivities, events and shows.
A game room with billiards and darts.
A library where you can borrow a book or donate one for other residents to enjoy.
A craft room for hobbies and creating something new.
A state-of-the-art gym with views over the heated pool and spa, plus locker rooms with showers right across the hall.

The resort-style pool & grounds

Behind the clubhouse, the large resort-style heated pool features lap lanes for exercise, a zero-entry shallow area, and a hot tub. All around the building, outdoor exercise stations let you stay fit while you take in the nature and lake views. It's designed so that fitness, relaxation and the water are never more than a few steps apart.

The community's history

Lakes of Mount Dora first opened with Pringle Builders, who broke ground in 2006. Medallion Homes took over in 2011, and in 2024 Medallion sold the remaining open lots to D.R. Horton — making D.R. Horton the builder of the community's final phase and its last lakefront homes.

The homes

D.R. Horton offers 12 single-story floor plans here, ranging from 1,402 to roughly 2,795 square feet, with 2-to-3-car garages, 2-to-3 baths, and paver driveways and lanais.
